Alto saxophonist and former member of the Boston based funk/jam-band Addison Groove Project, has released his first instrumental funk album. Inspired by various funk and jazz influences such as The Meters, James Brown and the JB's, Maceo Parker, Prince, Herbie Hancock, Freddie Hubbard, and numerous 80's funk bands, Adams combines catchy horn melodies, lyrical guitar and synth riffs, pulsating deep-pocket grooves, and hip hop instrumental samples, to make a head-bouncing funk party. Joining Adams (alto sax & flute) is a talented cast of funk musicians with whom he has crossed paths throughout his career. The horn section features Jared Sims on tenor sax and flute, trombonist Brian Thomas, and Trent Austin on trumpet. John Notto plays guitar, Rob Marscher, keyboards. Filling the rhythm section are Tom Arey on drums, Aaron Bellamy on bass, and Yahuba Torres on auxiliary percussion. From the opening, Meters-fueled track "Rocks" to tasteful nods to Herbie on "Meteorite" and the stellar, floating-day-dream groove of "All-Nighter," Bounce Classic proves aptly titled -- a dreamscape ode to the timelessness of music that uplifts body and soul.
